We started the day with a stop at the other Dinosaur National Monument Visitor Center just outside of Dinosaur, CO. After getting another cancellation stamp in the twins Junior Range National Park books, we started on the auto tour up to Harpers Corner.
Along the way there were a lot of stops with mostly short hikes to great viewpoints. The scenery varied a lot along the drive and it gave us plenty to talk about with the kids.
Cameron & Sophia were both armed with cameras today. I’ll mark below each photo who took it. With four people with cameras, we shot something north of 1,000 photos today.
Sophia did an awesome job asking tons of questions about photography. She also did some great learning by looking at photos she took and talking about what she liked & didn’t like. Here’s a snap I shot to show her that the camera would take a picture any time I pushed the button…
Cameron discovered that you can take a selfie even with a point and shoot camera…
Our two full days at Dinosaur were great. The learning opportunities for the kids were extremely good and it was easy to mix up hiking, exhibit touring and exploring by car. Colorado marks our 4th state so far this trip.
Tomorrow we’re leaving Utah and we’ll be on our way to Spot #13. It looks like another big winter storm is coming, so we’re probably going to have to shift our plans a bit over the next week. More snow!
